The Apple Vision Pro was the most significant announcement at WWDC 2023, alongside other devices, including new Mac computers. One of these is the new MacBook Air 15-inch, priced at Rs. 1,34,900 in India, available in four color options – Midnight, Silver, Space Grey, and Starlight. In terms of specifications, it closely resembles the mid-2022 MacBook Air, featuring the M2 chip and up to 512GB SSD storage.
However, it retains the distinctive Air design language, and Apple claims it to be the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world. It caters to users seeking the convenience and portability of the form factor, but with a slightly larger screen.
Specifications
The MacBook Air 15-inch possesses an 11.5mm thickness, ensuring its lightweight nature. However, its size makes it somewhat cumbersome to hold with one hand, unlike my older 13-inch MacBook Air (2017). The laptop’s form factor is advantageous when closed, as it easily fits into a backpack or handbag, provided you can accommodate its larger footprint.
Apart from these aspects, the MacBook Air 15-inch is identical to the 13-inch M2-powered version released in 2022. The decision between the two primarily revolves around your preferences regarding size and portability.
This choice naturally depends on the type of work you intend to perform on your laptop. In most cases, the 13-inch version is more suitable for everyday use and adequately powerful for its purpose. However, the 15-inch version may be beneficial if you engage in photo or graphic-based tasks, as it offers more workspace and multitasking capabilities.
